Where can I get advice on my pension?

When it comes to your pension pot, knowing whether you’re contributing enough or if your money is even in the right place can be difficult to judge alone. That’s why, like most things in life, it can really pay to seek professional help.

But who can you turn to?

Someone who could prove highly worthwhile speaking to is a financial adviser. They can apply their knowledge and expertise to assess your pension – and look at how you could be making more of it.

At Skipton, we have a network of highly trained advisers all over the country who have already assisted thousands of customers with their pension plans – and they can help you too.

Through a face-to-face review, not only can we take a look at your existing pension schemes to assess whether they’re on track to provide what you need. We can help you establish what you want from retirement, check your savings and investments, and identify if you’re on course to achieve the future you want.

If we discover a shortfall (between your expectations and projected income), we can work out how you could strengthen your plans, before presenting you with personalised recommendations to consider.

Our Pension Support Team

To make sure your Skipton adviser has everything they need for a review, our in-house team will gather all the relevant information on any pension schemes you have – so you don’t have to. This will ensure nothing is overlooked and that the adviser has everything they need to offer advice that’s appropriate for you.

How the team work:

  • With your consent, the team will contact your existing pension scheme provider(s) for details of your plans – to get a full picture. This can take several months to complete, as we wait to hear back from providers.
  • Once all information is received, they’ll conduct a thorough assessment of your defined contributions pension – to determine whether your money is in the right place.
  • If you have investments, they can also take a look at these in detail; analysing the performance, investment strategy and risk of each fund.
  • Following this thorough analysis, the team will compile a detailed report for your adviser to discuss with you.
